Amaranth "Elegant" (mixed varieties) - Amaranthus hypochondriacus.
An excellent mixture of dwarf amaranth varieties featuring dense inflorescences in rich, vibrant shades. The bushes are highly decorative and compact, reaching a height of no more than 40 cm.
They grow quickly, maintain their attractive shape perfectly, and bloom abundantly right up until the autumn frosts. They make an unusual and striking container plant. They are widely used for cutting and creating spectacular dried floral arrangements.
This contrasting mixture of amaranths is a very successful choice for forming both group and single (specimen) plantings in the garden.
This stunning amaranth will put on a brilliant show of lush plumes and beautiful leaves in your flower beds. In the summer, its talent is fully revealed, characterized by an exceptionally long blooming period. Thanks to its wonderful flowering and expressive bush shape, it blends harmoniously into any garden ensemble and thrives in outdoor vases and balcony containers. Amaranth flowers last surprisingly long when cut, and the dried inflorescences are absolutely ideal for winter bouquets.
Amaranth prefers to grow in open, sunny areas with loose, well-drained, and fertile soil.
Direct sowing of seeds outdoors is done in mid-May, placing 2-3 seeds per hole at a very shallow depth of no more than 0.5 cm (the seeds are extremely tiny and must not be buried deeply!). When the first true leaf appears, the seedlings are carefully thinned out, leaving a distance of 30-40 cm between plants. Amaranth is light- and heat-loving, preferring fertile soils with neutral acidity. For prolonged and abundant blooming, the plants require timely watering, regular weeding, soil loosening, and feeding with complex mineral fertilizers.

Bot. syn.: Amaranthus leucocarpus.
